The Odysseus System

The Major Worlds
Charon — "The Furnace"
Hot, hostile industrial inner world; sealed or subterranean settlements. Refineries, foundries, mines, and shipyards. Helix territory. Population ~11 million.
Arcadia — "The Civilized Heart"
The primary habitable world, population ~24 million. New Delphi is the colonial capital — OCA, universities, corporate towers, Aegis Citadel. It is a clean, safe world — prosperous on the surface; less so underneath.
Pallas — "The Graveyard"
A failed terraforming project turned into a mining and prison world, population ~800,000. Abandoned colonies, dead terraforming plants, sealed compounds — a good place for a Stray to disappear, and a dangerous one to follow them into.
Hyperion — "The Giant"
A gas giant and the economic crossroads of the system — helium-3 extraction, fuel refining, shipbuilding, across 53 confirmed moons. "Going to Hyperion" usually means the whole moon-and-station complex. Home to Port Mercy.
Nereid — "The Last Light"
A remote frozen world, population 90,000. The last major settled point before the deep outer system — a staging ground for anyone heading into the Black. Rumors persist about things found under the ice; nothing official has ever confirmed them.
Port Mercy and the Frontier
Port Mercy
The Hounds' home base. Port Mercy is an orbital habitat circling the gas giant Hyperion, with a population of ~120,000. It started as a refinery, then a refueling station, then a shipyard, and grew into a dense orbital city nobody planned for. Dockyards, bars, clinics, casinos, union halls, bounty offices, black markets, and Aegis facilities all coexist. Jaeger Division's main base is here.
The Drift
A broad asteroid belt beyond Hyperion consisting of mining claims, independent stations, prospectors, and smugglers. The Drift is the cultural heart of the Fringe and any who identify with that way of life. Population uncounted — the Fringe doesn't do censuses.
The Black
The poorly charted outer system beyond Nereid: old survey stations, failed colonies, derelicts, unreliable charts. As the saying goes: "Think twice before following a Stray into the Black."
The Hyperion Moons
s
Nine of Hyperion's 53 confirmed moons are worth knowing. Beyond Port Mercy and Atlas, Hyperion's other moons — including Argos, Thera, Icarus, Eurydice, Orpheus, Tartarus, Mnemosyne, and Nyx — combine for roughly 1.5 million more, mostly industrial crews, research staff, and garrison personnel.
| Moon | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Argos | Industrial | Heavy mining, shipyards, major Helix presence |
| Thera | Terraformed | Hyperion's most comfortable moon — agriculture, settlements |
| Icarus | Volcanic | Mineral-rich, dangerous, hardened extraction facilities |
| Eurydice | Ice/ocean | Frozen surface, subsurface ocean, Vantage research |
| Orpheus | Dead moon | Heavily cratered, old installations — several areas still restricted, no one's ever said why |
| Atlas | Large colony | Population ~500,000–1 million — mining cities, full OCA/Aegis presence |
| Tartarus | Prison moon | Major OCA correctional and detention facilities |
| Mnemosyne | Comms/data | Major communications and navigation infrastructure |
| Nyx | Outer moon | OCA jurisdiction mostly on paper — a stepping stone into the Drift |
